Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator

Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) also known as Pulsating High Gradient Magnetic Separator or Vertical Ring Magnetic Separator is a core piece of equipment designed for upgrading the grade of weakly magnetic metallic minerals and purifying non-metallic minerals by removing iron. Distinguished by its vertical ring rotation prevents clogging design, high gradient magnetic field generation, and intelligent control systems, it has become essential in mineral processing.

Guote's Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator boasts a maximum ring diameter of 10 meters, marking a milestone that establishes Guote Mining Equipment as a global leader in the field of high-end electromagnetic mineral processing equipment.

Beneficiation of weakly magnetic minerals: Including hematite, limonite, siderite, ilmenite, manganese ore, wolframite, rare earth ores, and tantalum-niobium ores. Recovery of secondary resources: Such as red mud, steelmaking slag, gas ash, fly ash, and furnace slag. Purification of non-metallic minerals: Including feldspar, quartz sand, kaolin, nepheline, fluorite, sillimanite, spodumene, barite, andalusite, talc, zircon, bentonite, and magnesite.

ADVANTAGES

High-Efficiency Separation: Unique magnetic medium with high induced magnetic field strength; the magnetic medium is a patented product self- developed by Guote Mining Equipment, capable of generating a high-gradient magnetic field with an induced field strength exceeding 2.0 T, thereby achieving high concentrate recovery rates and high-grade concentrates.  

2. Cooling System: Dual oil-water composite cooling system based on oil-water heat exchange principles; rinse water rapidly removes heat generated by the coil, limiting coil temperature rise to less than 25°C for enhanced magnetic field stability.  

3. Anti-Clogging and Energy-Saving: Vertical rotating-ring backwash design combined with a high-pressure rinsing system thoroughly eliminates magnetic medium clogging, while energy consumption is reduced by 20–50% compared to conventional equipment.  

4. Intelligent and Stable Operation: Equipped with fault-diagnosis and remote-control systems; variable-frequency control adjusts rotating-ring speed and pulsation frequency, and automatic liquid-level compensation enables intelligent equipment operation.  

5. Pulsating Device: Optional pulsation device adaptable to varying material characteristics, delivering superior rinse performance and improved separation efficiency, while also conserving water.

PRODUCT STRUCTURE

High Gradient Vertical Ring Magnetic Separator 5

The slurry enters the feed hopper through the feed pipe and flows through the upper magnetic gap along the rotating ring. The induced magnetic media, composed of high-permeability stainless steel rods inside the rotating ring, becomes magnetized within the background magnetic field. This creates a high-gradient magnetic field on the surface of the media, causing magnetic particles in the slurry to be captured on the media surface.

As the ring rotates,  captured particles are carried to the top demagnetized zone. There, pressurized wash water flushes the magnetic material into the magnetic concentrate hopper, while non-magnetic particles flow through the gap beneath the magnetic poles into the non-magnetic tailings hopper, thereby achieving material separation.

The magnetic media in the lower section of the rotating ring is submerged in the slurry level. Simultaneously with slurry injection, a stroke box installed on the side of the tailings box performs continuous reciprocating motion. This actuates a diaphragm to create vertical fluctuations in the slurry within the separation chamber. The resulting pulsating hydrodynamic force keeps the particle bed in a loose state throughout the separation process, effectively removing impurities from particle clusters and significantly improving the concentrate grade.
