Slab-grade Silica Sand Processing Line

Engineered quartz slab manufacturers demand exceptionally pure, uniformly graded silica sand to produce defect-free countertops, wall panels and architectural surfaces with consistent color, high transparency and excellent mechanical strength. Even trace amounts of iron, titanium, alumina or organic impurities can cause surface discoloration, black spots, pinholes and structural weaknesses in finished slabs.

Guote delivers full turnkey EPC slab-grade silica sand processing lines, utilizing combined physical beneficiation and flotation purification to deeply remove impurities from common quartz ore deposits, delivering premium slab-grade feedstock that meets the strictest quality requirements. Backed by our in-house beneficiation laboratory and process engineering team, we customize each flowsheet to match specific ore mineralogy and product specifications. Capacities cover a broad range and are fully scalable, with all plants engineered for continuous operation and stable long-term product quality.

PROCESS DESCRIPTION

  • 01
    Crushing & Fine Grinding
Depending on raw ore hardness and grain size characteristics, we configure primary and secondary crushing circuits to reduce ROM quartz ore to a uniform feed size. The material is then processed through fine grinding equipment to achieve optimal mineral liberation size. A closed-circuit screen recirculates oversize particles back to the grinding circuit, ensuring consistent particle size distribution and minimizing over-grinding that would increase reagent consumption and product loss.
  • 02
    Desliming & Classification
Ground slurry is discharged into desliming cones for primary desliming, where clay, fine slime and lightweight gangue minerals are removed via overflow. The underflow slurry then proceeds to classification equipment for particle size grading, producing a uniformly sized feed for downstream purification processes. This step removes fine fractions that would otherwise interfere with separation efficiency and increase reagent usage.
  • 03
Magnetic Separation & Reverse Flotation Purification
The sized slurry enters a two-stage purification circuit — the core of slab-grade silica production. It first passes through Guote’s proprietary permanent magnetic wet separators, which remove the bulk of ferromagnetic iron-bearing impurities. The pre-purified slurry then flows to high-intensity wet magnetic separators (WHIMS), which generate an ultra-high induced magnetic field to capture finely disseminated weakly magnetic impurities including iron and titanium bearing minerals. Following magnetic separation, the slurry proceeds to a reverse flotation circuit, which selectively floats and removes feldspar, mica and other alumina-silicate gangue minerals that cannot be removed by magnetic separation alone. Our optimized reagent scheme achieves efficient gangue rejection with minimal silica loss, directly improving slab whiteness and reducing firing defects.
  • 04
    Dewatering, Drying & Final Sizing
Purified concentrate slurry is first dewatered in thickening cones, then fed to a rotary dryer fitted with a dedicated dust collection system, enabling fully enclosed drying operation with controlled dust emissions. The dryer delivers gentle, low-contamination drying with precise temperature control, producing low-moisture product without introducing secondary impurities or thermal degradation. Multi-stage square swing screens perform final size grading, ensuring tight particle size distribution optimized for quartz slab pressing. All tailings and process water are routed to a dedicated thickening and recycling system, where clarified water is recirculated back to the production circuit to minimize freshwater intake.
