Process Description

  The process of ilmenite dry selection is generally as follows:

  1. Use mechanical crushing and screening technology to separate iron ore into particles of different sizes.
  2. Perform mid-field strength primary selection on the separated particles, mainly using mid-field strength magnetic separator to separate the iron concentrate.
  3. Then use high-field strength magnetic separator for secondary selection to obtain high-grade ilmenite concentrate and medium- and low-grade tailings.

  The process of ilmenite wet selection is generally as follows:

  1. Grind the ilmenite and grind the ore into fine particles of the required mesh size.
  2. Use slurry pump to wet the slurry through the drum magnetic separator to separate most of the iron powder in the ilmenite.
  3. Gravity selection, use spiral chute to separate the ferro-titanium powder.
  4. Finally, the separated ferro-titanium slurry is further dehydrated and enters the drainage reservoir.
  5. The ferro-titanium powder after drainage enters the dryer for drying.
  6. The dried ferro-titanium powder enters the five-drum magnetic separator to separate titanium concentrate, iron concentrate, and some tailings.

  Comparison of dry and wet selection of ilmenite: 

  Although dry and wet selection of ilmenite are both basic methods of ore dressing, and their processes are roughly the same, there are still some differences between the two in actual application
  1. Wet selection has better separation effect.
  2. Dry selection has low cost, but the output will be affected by the material condition.
  3. Wet selection can handle ilmenite ores that are difficult to select, contain a lot of water, and have high viscosity.
  In short, dry selection and wet selection of iron ore have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the appropriate method should be selected according to the specific situation.
